-May 01 2007, a Food not Bombs benefit gig was organized in FVR National High School, Brgy. Norzagaray, Bulacan. Mcphran 22 yrs old of age, one of the organizers- was found dead, submerged in the river nearby- a property of a sand & gravel company operating near Sapang Palay, Bulacan. The gig posters were widely propagated, there’s even one posted at the gates of an army base saying " Unite & Strong Food Not Bombs" FNB has been a staple- DIY punk, autonomous activists initiative since the 90’s- and the campaign coincided with hype of electoral pollution this May. There have been speculation about the whole incident whether there was a foul play or political motive prior to the cause of the death. FNB is connected to the Philippines grassroots/autonomous movement to a greater extent. There have been instances where it’s civic tendencies & feeding programmes have been suppressed from both right-wing & leftist elements in our society -particularly when it posed a potential to convene with the issues of the community..
